A rice cooker is somewhat of an extravagance in the kitchen but it is still a nice time saver. It’s really easy to use and while I don’t have an expensive one, it delivers perfect rice just about every time.
Simply follow the recipe on the bag of (hopefully) whole grain brown rice. I often double the recipe so that I have some leftovers for another meal (or even for freezing [yes, rice freezes quite well]). Most brown rices call for 1 cup of rice to 2 or 2 ½ cups of water. You can also add a little salt and about a tablespoon of Earth Balance, if desired. Just add the ingredients to the rice cooker, press the button, and go on to the next task. Your rice cooker will let you know when the rice is cooked. What could be easier?
